HITECH COMPANIES, ALONG WITH THE MOST IMPORTANT UNIVERSITIES FROM CLUJ, STARTED THE CONSTITUTION OF THE COMPETITIVESS POLE FOR THE INFORMATIONAL SOCIETY – POLARIS
CLUJ-NAPOCA, August 29 – 15 entities from the ICT sector, along with advanced research universities from Transylvania, started with the support of public administration institutions, the constitution of the competitiveness Pole in IT- Polaris. The main objective of the association is the increase of the competitiveness and technological innovation, through the consolidation of the interaction process between members and the stimulation of involvement of higher education institutions in research and training of ICT specialists.
Pole members will submit a package of projects for financing from the European Funds through Sectorial Operational Programme “Increase Economic Competitiveness”, Priority Axes 1 “An innovative and eco-efficient system of production”, D.M.I. “ Sustainable development of entrepreneurship”, the Operation “Development of business support structures of national and international interest” in order to accelerate the development of strategic programs intended to facilitate technological transfer.
The IT competitiveness pole will provide for it’s beneficiaries –SMEs, IT companies, higher education institutions, healthcare and public administration services providers – both access to advanced technologies, cloud computing modern services, as well as opportunities for training and technological transfer.
Investments will exceed 7 million euros, will be carried out over a period of two years and will generate over 500 highly qualified jobs.
Along with higher education and healthcare services, IT was constantly a leading industry in Cluj. Polaris aims to coagulate the existing energies and to formalize this reality, ensuring the framework of a synergic functioning between the factors of progress of the region. Increasing the competitiveness of a region attracts resources, triggers the creative energies and ultimately leads to increased quality of life and sustainable development in that area. We want to attract talented people, not lose them. We intend to ensure the necessary framework so that innovation and education could become a priority.
We owe to the environment which consecrated us a continuously development. It is an open initiative, we publicly invite other organizations or consortia to join this demarche in any of its phases. Being a strategic domain, we need cohesion in order to be competitive at an international level- declared Marcel Borodi, one of the initiators of this project, President of ARIES Transilvania and CEO of Brinel.
